Making people happy, athletics, and my faith are the things I’m most passionate about in life. I love knowing I can be the cause of someone else’s smile, especially when I know it turns their whole entire day around. I believe life is too short to be anything but happy. We surround ourselves with optimistic people who only bring us up. I like being in a positive environment and I think it is important for everyone to know that there is no benefit from trying to bring others down. For me, being kind to others actually enhances my mood. I challenge you, reading this, to do three small acts of kindness out of the goodness of your heart for a stranger in the next three days. Passions do not have to be physical objects, they can be as simple as spreading joy in the world.
Athletics have always been a huge part of my life. Ever since I was in preschool, I have participated in sports. It started with soccer and dance, then moved to volleyball and basketball. Somewhere along the way I picked up golf and softball. By the time high school came around, I was only cheerleading, running track, and golfing. With that, I still watch baseball and football on television and play catch with my brother in our yard. Although sports have put massive amounts of stress on my body, the amount of joy they have brought into my life has been worth it. Now that high school sports are over, I love to go to the gym and workout because not only is it a stress reliever, but a way to achieve wellness in life. For pleasure and entertainment, I do not need to be participating in a sport, simply watching one suffices. Being at Comerica Park watching the Detroit Tigers is one of my favorite places to be in the whole world. Nothing can top the atmosphere of screaming fans and the smell of fresh cut grass.
My faith is one of the most important things in the world to me because I know I can always turn to God. I am very proud to call myself an active member in the Catholic church. There are times in life when everything seems to be going wrong, but God is always by my side. God doesn’t make mistakes, always stay optimistic. In fear and success, I know I can turn to him. I would not be where I am today without his help and guidance in my life. I have achieved so much in my life by graduating sixth in my high school class, and surviving without my parents in college. I owe my success to God and the people around me who have been there with support. We are all his children, therefore we should love each other. I believe there is no such thing as strangers, just friends we have not met yet. I do my best to include everyone and treat them with kindness and respect. God is always here watching over us and would not cast any situation our way we could not handle. I am very passionate about giving back to the community and trying to live a life he would approve of. For example, I have been on three, one week long, mission trips to Morehead, Kentucky. There, I have rebuilt houses with Habitat for Humanity, work with the Christian Social Service Center there, and built ramps for people who need assistance going into their homes.
